Atapuerca 19.25 miles

I was mentally prepared to walk 18 miles today. I broke it up into three 6 mile segments. It was overcast and the cold winds did not pick up until about mile 3 or so. We were so blessed with no rain. We had some uphill battles and eventually the sun came out and it turned out to be a glorious day. We walked through beautiful forests.

I was so excited when I saw the town which I thought was Atapuerca, it turns out it was Ages. So we had to walk a little further.

We are staying in a five bedroom house with three bathrooms. We feel like royalty lol. We went to the only food establishment open in this tiny town and downed two pizzas.

I am so bummed that we will not see this Unesco site. I guess I need to come back. Maybe Monday on our day off? It’s only a short taxi ride.

We have such a short walk to Burgos tomorrow and it’s our one rest day. It may be raining a little bit but we won’t melt.
