Belorado 14.5 miles

Today seemed like a short walk from Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Belorado. Again, it did not have huge hills but we had the cold wind against us for the second day in a row. Another challenging day on the Camino.

We walked through wide open fields of wheat. We walked through the town of Viloria de Rioja, where Santo Domingo was born.

I’m sad to say we walked out of the Rioja vino region but on a happy note, we still drank Rioja today since we are still on the border lol.

We arrived in Belorado, checked into our hotel, had our celebratory glass of vino in the lobby, then found a restaurant that was still serving food @ 3:56 pm, just in time for our usual three course delish early dinner, for 17€ including a bottle of wine.

Kathryn knew of a convent that makes chocolate, EL OBRADOR DEL CONVENTO, that we wanted to try. The ten minute walk seemed too long so we took a taxi. I was too stuffed to try my dark chocolate bar but I will post when I do.

In for the night at 6 pm. I admit that I am very tired today so I plan to rest up for our 18 mile walk tomorrow.
