Hornillo del Camino 13 miles
Today was an exceptional day. The sun was out all day long and the temperature was not too high.
It was a 2 mile walk out of Burgos, and I took a photo at least eight of the sculptures from the 2021 800 year celebration of the first stone laid for the Cathedral.
I copied this from the Google if anyone has interest:
“The figures are the work of Cristino Díez and are made of lacquered iron two meters high by one meter wide. On that surface, thirty local artists and a dozen students from the School of Art and Higher Education of Design of Burgos have reflected their vision of the pilgrimage through the first European cultural itinerary.”
The walk today was not too hilly and the beauty and shortness of it made it go by quickly. We walked into a tiny church in Rabé de Las Calzadas, Iglesia parroquial de Santa Marina. A sweet woman gave each pilgrim that entered a Mary medal, a special pilgrim prayer and a hug.
We arrived at our tiny hotel in Hornillo that also shares an albergue so we met up with two women we met on our very first day in San Jean and we had fun getting to know them better.
We look forward to another short walk tomorrow to Castrojeriz with the same beautiful weather.
