Palas del Rei 16.5 miles

Today is our 31st day of walking with 3 more days to go to Santiago de Compostela.

I thought today’s hike was amazing. We started out with fog and then the sun came out and by the time we entered Palas del Rei there was not one cloud in the sky.

We walked through an enchanted forest, saw a very cool archeological dig which they started to excavate in 2004, walked into a tiny church where a blind man was giving stamps for our Camino passport with our guidance that I kind of failed at the the process.

We got to our new home just in time before the kitchen closed and met up with some Tennessee friends that we met when we got our wax stamp several towns ago. We got another update from our TN friends on the rescue of the broken ankle UK/Ireland woman. They were walking the path when the ten team rescue crew arrived and they shared a photo.

We all agreed that we thought today was packed with very talkative pilgrims. I will post a pic.

We went to the pilgrim Mass at 7 pm and the church was filled with pilgrims. It was a very welcoming service for all countries.

Perfect closing of a perfect day.

Tomorrow is a long day of walking but our reward is so close.
