Part Two Santiago.
We enjoyed our day in Santiago. I could bore y’all with the history of Santiago but I won’t so please go to the Google and read about it if you’re interested in Saint James and why the cathedral is here. It does have a connection to Muxia and Mary.
We were numbers 90, 91 and 92 coming in this morning. The final count for today was 2,242 pilgrims making it here today to get their Compostelas. This is from every route. It will be almost 5,000 per day by the summer. Last year over 500,000 pilgrims walked from every route. It’s quite popular.
After we showered we sat in the square and watched so many pilgrims take photos. We had some take photos of us and we took photos for them. There was a huge group of Koreans and one of them seemed to like us sitting in the square and he had a friend take our photo. He was wearing flowered gel shoes.
We walked to the Franciscan church and got another certificate, Benedictio Sancti Francisci.
We plan to head out to eat again at 8. No worries about waking up and walking. We will taxi to Finesterre after breakfast and look forward to seeing the Atlantic Ocean. Today was a gorgeous sunny day and we hope the sunshine continues.
